Vlora FC make history yet again as they beat RWB Adria on the road 4-1 in Bridgeview, IL on Sunday, June 2nd at 1pm at Bridgeview Sports Fields. Both teams came out strong in the first 15 minutes creating some dangerous situations on both ends. Vlora FC would open the scoring. It was Franklin Schwendimann who pounced on a mis-clearance from the Adria keeper and crossed the ball into Robert Cooper who finish it in the 17th minute. Vlora would continue their push to extend the lead but after several chances created the lead would remain 1-0 at half time.
Second Half
Adria would open the second half very strong earning a penalty kick a minute into the half. They would equalize on the opportunity to make it level 1-1. For the next 30 minutes, both teams would create multiple chances to break the tie both teams remained unsuccessful. Vlora would miss a penalty and a few one-on-one chances with the keeper. Vlora clearly looking more dangerous would finally break the tie in 78th minute on beautiful strike from Schwendimann (Carter Block) who cut in on his left from just outside the 18-yard box and hit a laser into the top left corner of the goal. A minute later Vlora would grab a third goal from Hesham Al-Julani (Schwendimann) who recently came on as a substitute. Al-Julani would score his 2nd goal in the 86th minute to extend the score 4-1 and put the game out of reach.
USASA Amateur Cup Region 2 – Semifinal
Vlora made history by being the first Minnesota Amateur team in history to reach the USASA Amateur Cup Region 2 Semifinals. Vlora FC will host NPSL side Milwaukee Torrent in the semifinals. Date, time, and location have yet to be scheduled.
