Lightning Causes Match to End in a Draw

Game end is 71st minute due to weather precautions

Friday night was a much-anticipated matchup between Vlora FC Priemer UPSL side against Leon FC. A match that was played in conditions that were not the very favorable to either side. The scheduled kickoff time for 8pm was delayed 45 minutes due to weather precautions. Although the match did eventually start a quarter to 9pm both teams were still managing the conditions of the field caused by heavy rainfall. Vlora FC would get on the board first by scoring early in second half in the 53rd minute. It was crafty display by the newly signed forward Franklin Schwendimann, weaving through three Leon defenders and placing his shot past the Leon goalkeeper hitting the left post before settling in the back of the net, scoring his second goal of the season.

Schwendimann’s first goal of the season was in a tight contest against 18/26 Academy when he scored the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute (Vlora FC won 2-1). Joseph Giron had the assist against Leon FC. Giron is another Vlora FC newcomer who scored the winner in the 94th minute against Green Bay Glory in USA Amateur Cup Regional II Third Round. Giron’s sends Vlora FC to their first USA Amateur Cup Region II Quarterfinal in club history.
