Vlora FC was on the road against Granite City FC for their fourth UPSL match of the season. The club has managed to remain unbeaten through the first three matches against the likes of UPSL newcomers Ebusua FC and Maplebrook 58ers, and also winning on the road against Brooklyn Knights FC. The squad was able to jump out to an early lead with a goal from Uhunoma Frederick-Ilekhuoba, who also earned his first start of the season. Leo Anthony had the assist. Later in the half Granite City FC captain Mohamed Keita would score the equalizer from free kick just outside of the box. Vlora FC made a few changes to their lineup to start the second half and it proved to be a good tactical decision. The squad was able to create more chances and close up a lot the space the Granite City FC was able to exploit in the first half. Anthony was able to work his way down the ride side and earn a crucial penalty. Shane Marshall would step up and calmly finish the penalty giving Vlora a 2-1 lead. Another bright spot was Vlora FC midfielder Adam Yazbeck who provided a nice spark to squad in his first appearance of the season by assisting on the final goal of match to Jovan Carter. Vlora FC picked up 3 big points on the road in a 3-1 win over Granite City FC. Next match the squad will take on defending division and conference champions Minneapolis City SC at home on Wednesday, May 25 at 7:30pm.
