Vlora seasons come to a close

The men’s premier and women’s seasons have concluded at Vlora FC, ending an exciting spring and summer for the club across both divisions of the UPSL.

Vlora’s men’s premier team played in one playoff game this season, facing St. Croix in a 2-1 overtime defeat on June 24. Vlora ended their premier season with a strong 5-4-1 record, proving hard to beat and capable of some spectacular goals. Some late-season hiccups, however, prevented the team from getting key wins in late-June, causing Vlora to lose out on the No. 1 seed for the playoffs.

Vlora’s women’s team played two games recently to end their 2026 season, winning one and losing one. The team ended their regular season 3-1-5, collecting 10 points in the Midwest West-North division.

Vlora hosted the Minnesota Bliss on June 25 in an eventful 3-2 loss. Haley Gschrey opened the scoring with the first half’s only goal, smartly poaching a loose ball and driving into the box for a crisp finish. The Bliss answered back strong with three goals in a matter of 10 minutes, two of which from Sabina Peterson Rajalingam, to take a 3-1 lead. Gschrey did score a second, but the comeback was not meant to be as the Bliss survived, helped by a saved penalty, to take home a win.

Vlora’s final game of the season was on the road against Lakeville SC on July 1st, resulting in a big 1-0 victory. Gschrey was once again the hero and goalscorer, scoring the day’s only goal to end Vlora’s season on a high note.
