Vlora FC’s Men and Women side had very important matches coming up this weekend. The men’s side coming off a tough 3-game stretch that resulted in one draw and two losses, there is much need to pick up three points. Saturday, May 13 Vlora traveled to Milwaukee, WI to face Honduras FC in the USASA Amateur Cup Region II quarterfinals. That trip would not go as expected as Vlora FC would lose 1-0 and walking away with several missed opportunities to level the score.
After suffering a disappointing loss and being eliminated from the 2023 USASA Amateur Cup competition, Vlora had to get ready for UPSL league action the following day. Vlora FC would travel to Spring Lake Park High School to face Twin City FC (formerly Ebusua FC). It would be yet another day where the squad would struggle to find the back of the net. After several missed chances the game would result in a 0-0 draw. Definitely felt like a game where the squad dropped some valuable points in very tight Midwest Division race.
On Wednesday, May 17th Vlora FC traveled to Rochester to face Med City in the first match for the Group B of the MN Super Cup. It was an exciting matchup between Med City FC, the 2022 NPSL North Champions and Vlora FC, the 2022 Midwest West regular season champions. Med City FC would find a go-ahead goal in the 52nd minute by Scott Neil. Although it was disappointing to walk away with a loss in another competition, they should be pleased with their overall performance.
