Tough Result at Home on Memorial Day Weekend

Vlora FC Women Come Up Short Against Superior City FC

It was yet another soccer filled Memorial Day weekend where Vlora FC UPSL Women’s team hosted Superior City FC just one week after picking up the first win in the team’s history in a 2-1 victory over St. Croix. Previously, Vlora FC traveled to Superior, WI on May 12th to face off in the inaugural UPSL Women’s Midwest West Division season opener. It was cold and windy match that Superior City FC get the better of Vlora FC when defender Valentina Million went down with an injury, scoring two goals in span of a few minutes. Vlora FC would go on to lose the season opener 2-0.

This time around Vlora FC had the luxury of being hosts. With a rotated squad from their previous meeting, they hopeful to coming away with a positive result. The team would start strong, even hitting the post on a shot from Million. It would be Superior City who would take a 1-0 lead in first half. In the second half, Vlora FC would create a few chances, but overall struggled to connect and get numbers up the field to threaten Superior City FC’s defense. Superior City FC would score a second goal (2-0) that would prove to be enough to hand Vlora FC their 2nd loss to Superior City this season.

The women’s side will look to bounce back Saturday, June 3rd when they travel to St. Cloud, MN to take on Granite City FC.
